The first "leg" or the first peninsula of Halkidiki is called Kassandra. Kassandra is a cosmopolitan location, full of major touristic resorts and traditional settlements and is worth discovering if you feel like taking a longer trip away from Sithonia and Ammouda Villas. Indicatively, you can visit the picturesque maritime village of Nea Fokaia with the Byzantine tower of Agios Pavlos, the traditional settlement of Athytos or Afytos, the picturesque coastal Poseidi, the cosmopolitan Fourka, Kallithea with the amazing nightlife, the beautiful Sani, which hosts an important summer festival and of course the spa facilities of Agia Paraskevi. Do not forget to pay a visit at Petralona Cave, where the famous skull of Archanthropus (human remains of 700,000 years) and fossils of extincted animals have been discovered. The cave has an impressive scenery and is open to visitors.
